The Situation

The mini golf course at Groovy Golf in Coleman was playing differently from one hole to the next. Natural grass needed constant water and mowing to stay playable, and between the weather and the foot traffic the surface had gone uneven in the places players walked most. The Transformation

4M Outdoors installed 4,863 square feet of artificial grass for golfing across the course. Most of the work was underneath: grading and compacting the base so each hole sits flat and drains, since on a putting surface the base is what the ball is actually reading. The turf was then cut to the shape of each hole and the transitions between surfaces were closed off so there is nothing at a seam for a ball to catch.

The Outcome

The course now plays the same from one hole to the next, and it plays the same in August as it does after a wet week. Watering and mowing are off the list, and the surface drains rather than closing the course for a day. Groovy Golf has an attraction that opens on schedule instead of on the weather.
